I love IKEA furniture. Once you get the hang of it, you can literally build anything IKEA within half an hour. Nothing better than the simplicity of an IKEA shelf. But finishing my sister’s room did not only require building furniture but also drilling holes into concrete walls. Drilling holes into walls of empty rooms must be the loudest noise ever. We started off with green walls. Now, don’t get me wrong, while I personally detest green, it can look lovely when accentuated correctly. But after all these years, we were just so over the green walls – you would not believe it. So we decided to start the renovation by painting the walls. Unfortunately, because the house we live in has never been renovated since it was first built some 30 years ago. The wallpapers were a little old fashioned, to say the least. When the lockdown started we decided that it was finally time to do something about her old, kinda shabby room. The furniture in her room were upcycled furniture from our old nursery. The tabletop of her desk had a massive crack in it because our TV once fell off the wall and broke it. The walls had writing all over them and the carpet had burn holes in it – this may or may not was my fault, no one will ever know. Overall, the room was in desperate need of a makeover.
